Claire Kitcher
I live with my family in the village of Sway on the southern edge of the New Forest. My love of the forest, its way of life and animals, especially the ponies, has been the main inspiration for my paintings, since a very young age. I spend as much time as possible in the forest, trying to get out every day either on my pony, walking the dogs or both, taking a camera or painting equipment whenever possible.
My Work.
I enjoy working in Graphite, Watercolours, Pastels and Traditional Oils, finding each completely different to work with and that my style changes with each medium. Although being completely self taught, I have been successfully painting professionally since 1986. The majority of my work comes from pet and horse portrait commissions, but there is also demand for New forest scenes, wildlife paintings and a wide variety of commercial work, including more than 30 designs for "Tuftops" kitchen worktop savers.
The Internet.
A major outlet for both sales of my finished work and a source of new commissions is the Internet. Having had my own Website for a number of years has created many new openings and helped to break into the American market, resulting in commercial work such as music scores, CD covers and magazine illustration. The latest additions to my Website are a Studio Web cam, where you can see my latest work and an Artists forum, giving others a chance to show their work or discuss art in general.
