Janet Langford Janet was born in 1951 and educated at Barton Peveril Grammar School, Eastleigh, Hampshire.
She continued to study biology and worked in biological research for 13 years. During this time she attended evening classes at Southampton College of Art and obtained G.C.E. Advanced level in Art. Janet gave up her scientific career in 1983 and since that time has exhibited her paintings in exhibitions and galleries in the New Forest; East Southampton and Salisbury regions. She specialises in painting small pictures and miniatures in acrylics, which are subtly detailed with a realistic atmospheric quality, produced by building up the artwork in layers of glazes using matt and gloss mediums to increase translucency. The villages, small holdings and animals grazing in the New Forest inspire many of her paintings. Her interest in flora and birds in their natural habitat is also apparent when looking at her choice of subject matter.
